This felt installation is an exciting new addition to Te Takeretanga o Kura –hau– pō the community hub in Levin, New Zealand and was created by the Horowhenua community.
I was facilitating this funded community art project, by using the ancient craft of felt-making to build bridges between generations.
The artwork was created in a series of workshops held at local schools and the Art Society, offering a space for different age groups coming and learning together and to get to know each other.
More than 60 participants between 4 and 82 years learnt how to make felt from wool, creating circles in a variety of colours and sizes that can now be seen and enjoyed by the public.
